The birth of a new year feels like it happens twice per year (sometimes maybe more).
First, when the calendar year renews. Second, when the zodiac calendar resets, shifting from Pisces to Aries season in March.
Seasons of rebirth are when I paint most: when the spirit guides feel closer than usual. Giving redirection, the angels and spirits help me surrender to some desire or accept a new way of being into my life. I paint imagery of celestial waters and lands with ever-changing weather. A new body of work was born during this time of rebirth: swan island.
The watery fluidity of Pisces allows creativity to flow gently, and emotions can move quickly from calm waves to storms.
Moving from cosmic waterfalls to celestial ponds — the atmospheres in swan island draw inspiration from the panoramic waterscapes in southwest Florida.
Change is my constant inner-state of being. The sense of flux, coming and going, color palettes shifting and revealing new scenes — the inner world transforms from lightness to sunset, darkness to dawn.
