cave of swans
It hasn’t been easy to write for all of December. I go through periods of silence and stillness, when words just don’t come as easily.
I keep painting, but I can’t give any language to what I am creating. It is only a visual portal to a place I can lead viewers to enter.
Music gives my art its heartbeat — a rhythm, a sense of harmony. Lately, I cannot stop listening to the new Weyes Blood album: And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow.
Isn’t it beautiful when the words you feel can be sung for you to listen?
Before 2022 is over, I am planning to make a painting of 22 silver swans.
There is a beautifully watery, sensual space where the swans love to swim and glow — this expansive cave where angels sing, a slice of heaven maybe.
By painting the imagined realm, I remember what matters in the physical realm. I remember that we exist in both, they are equally real and accessible.
This year gave me the time to grow into my work, to activate different layers of awareness as I experiment and find new dimensions of my inner world.
I invite you to listen to this beautiful work of musical art, and maybe sing along. <3
I am giving myself a portal to pause, as the year changes over from 22 to 23.
