My current ongoing body of work traces the topography of a celestial land. This is an endless land, sea, and sky filled with swans, butterflies, angels, and other spirit guides.
In this liminal space of painting the celestial land, I discover the more delicate layers of my internal reality: where bliss, longing, hope, and pain converge into a storm of emotion. Each painting is an impressionist, symbolist image of the state of my own psyche.
Channeling my love and studies of French Symbolist painter Odilon Redon, and the stunning landscapes rendered in Japanese textiles, I create a land that floats above and also deeply within the present: it is as ever-changing and eternal as everything else we can see and experience.
